So, if you’re a canary owner and would love to read on some tips and tricks on how to speed up this development process, be sure to read through this article for several tips on how to encourage canaries to make bird songs.

1. The Right Nutritional Diet

Canaries with melodious bird songs are also canaries with an overall amazing health. One of the basic things breeders could do to ensure their overall health is to feed them the right nutritional diet that gives them the needed amount of proper nutrients daily. Breeders could do more prior research to know what’s best for their canaries, or they could consult nutritional professionals to tailor the right diet.

On the day-to-day basis, breeders must keep a careful eye on the diet they have prescribed for their canaries. Clean up leftover feed and water to avoid bacteria infestations, and ensure that their feeding stations are clean from any potential illnesses. Double check on the expiration dates of the feed, to avoid any illnesses caused by serving expired food.

2. Extra Vitamin Supplements

Aside from the providing the proper feed, breeders could benefit from feeding extra vitamin supplements to their canary birds. This could be in the form of a tailored diet, or as simple as purchasing prescribed over-the-counter supplements. Extra vitamin supplements would not only help canaries speed up their bird songs, but could also help maintain their healthy immune systems and combat any minor diseases caused by insufficient vitamin doses.

3. Living Spaces Sanitation

Aside from providing a proper feed, breeders could benefit from a proper living spaces sanitation. By regularly cleaning your canaries’ habitats, breeders would be able to literally wash away any potential bacteria infections and diseases that could have inhibited the unkept areas. More so, a clean living area would provide more comfort to the canaries to live in. Comfortable and healthy canaries are more likely to make bird songs than their less happy peers.

4. Living Space Location

The location designated for the canary’s living space plays an equally important role in their ability to make melodious bird songs. Canary birds should be placed in peaceful calm areas that do not trigger stress to them. More so, the area should be sufficiently shaded and placed further away from any noise and/or other stress inducing factors. Only then should your canaries be comfortable enough to start singing melodious bird songs.

5. Bathing and Sunbathing

A lesser known fact by bird enthusiasts everywhere is the need to bathe your canaries daily. Simply sprinkle them with clean water to keep their exteriors moisturised and clean. Most responsible breeders would commit to this routine once a day – or two times maximum. A healthy and clean canary would produce harmonious bird songs faster than their less healthy peers.

As for sunbathing, breeders would start by exposing their birds to the morning sun for 15 minutes at every 8 am. Sun rays provide a healthy dose of vitamin D that could help them maintain a good immune system. Similarly, another time of the day where the sun provides a good dose of vitamin D would be around 3-4 in the afternoon. When sunbathing your canaries, be sure to provide them water to feed on to avoid dehydration.

6. Down Time Freedom

Designate a good amount of time to uncage your canaries and let them enjoy the outside world. In doing so, canaries would socialise and mingle with other living creatures – which would directly affect their levels of happiness thus ability to create harmonious bird songs.

7. Fruit Treats

Treat your canaries to fruits for an extra sweet organic treat. Fruits are also extremely high in healthy vitamins and nutrients – thus killing two birds with one stone. The water content in fruits should help canaries balance their hydration levels as well, which would be very beneficial for birds who are already singing bird songs of their own. Fruit treats could be fed daily – however, it is advised that breeders consult professionals nevertheless to ensure the right dose of fruits is being fed to your canaries. Overfeeding or underfeeding can cause more major health setbacks if not managed well.

8. Learning From Others

One last tactic, and certainly not the least important, is allowing canaries to learn from their bird song singing peers. Breeders would allow them to socialise at around evening – when the weather is neither too hot nor too cold. Socialising them with their peers would allow them to sing faster, but in the case that you have not met any other singing canaries, exposing them to a loop mp3 audio should be just as sufficient.

So there you have it, basic tips on how to encourage canaries to make bird songs. Remember that every canary is different, therefore uniforming one’s tactic with the other is unwise. If you are concerned with other things – such as a slower than normal developmental rate – don’t be afraid to consult medical professionals for advise and help on how to deal with the issue. Good luck!
