Insect-eating birds are very useful for humans as they are in charge of eating all the creepy crawlies and insects during fall, specifically in the months that have “ber”.

They are very beneficial for controlling the population of the annoying insects. Despite the fact that birds feed on worms most of the time, they also enjoy insects as snacks.

  • Chickadees

Chickadees are the most common birds you might see around the United States. Chickadees are classified into three groups: the Carolina, the Black-capped, and the Mountain chickadees.

Their round-sized head bigger than its body makes them look cute. These birds are also known to be curious of their surroundings, so you can easily find them near the feeding stations. They are also easily attracted to small boxes with wooden shavings.

Their favorite insects are beetles, wasps, flies and caterpillars.

  • White-bellied Woodpeckers

Having Latin name Drycopus javensis, white-bellied woodpecker is a bird that inhabits tropical area of Asia, specifically in the evergreen area of the Southeast.

As its name, this bird species can be easily noticed by the white color of its belly. White-bellied woodpeckers are considered to be one of the largest of their species as well as the most dominant population.

They feed on insects such as grubs living under barks and ants as well. They have unique habit, which is making drumming sound during meal time and breeding season. Before flying off, they also like to make a distinct “kuk” sound.

  • Philippine Frogmouth

The Philippine Frogmouth is native to the Philippines which is famous for having diverse wildlife. This bird is nocturnal, which means that it is active during the night. You can find them in the lowland forest areas. They feed mainly on insects, such as cicadas, grasshoppers, crickets and beetles.

  • American Robins

This bird is native to North America. The American Robins are mainly attracted to over grown shrubberies and large trees, that’s why they are commonly found in park, gardens and even golf courses.

Regarding to their appearance, the American Robins have orange breast with a white patch on lower section of the body and grayish-brown feathers.

The American Robins enjoy eating a wide variety of insects and fruits. They also like to tug earthworms off the grounds.

  • Mockingbirds

The mockingbirds mostly feed on grasshoppers, tree ants and beetles.

  • Purple Martin

This bird species is typically sociable and likes to share breeding sites with the other martins. Purple martins are also larger than swallow. They like roaming around at the highest perch of the tree in the evening and they will hunt in lower ground or near their nest.

They feed mostly on flying insects and fire ants. That’s why they will be a good companion for your garden as they can eliminate those annoying insects.

  • Cardinal

The cardinal is known for being one of the most cheerful birds in nature as it can make the cheerful sounds. You can find this beautiful bird in most of the gardens.
